Legacy Platform to Modern Stack
The Problem
An aging Drupal 6 platform was struggling under the weight of 100K+ research abstracts - slow performance, broken search, and a user experience that hadn't kept pace with the audience's expectations. 280K URLs needed proper redirects to protect SEO equity built over a decade. There was no AI-powered discovery layer and no automated pipeline to pull new research from PubMed.
The Solution
A full platform migration from Drupal 6 to Laravel 12, with a custom AI chat system built on a RAG pipeline using pgvector embeddings and OpenRouter. A PubMed import automation pipeline was built for ongoing content ingestion. The 280K URL redirect map was completed to preserve all existing SEO value, and a modern search layer was layered on top of the migrated content.
